Following the success of the Japanese against the Soviet Union in 1939 on the border of Manchuria and Mongolia at Nohoman*, the Japanese and Germans began to have talks about a joint attack of the Soviet Union . The Japanese success in Nohonman increased the power of the North Strike group, which wanted to seize Siberia as far as Lake Baikal for its resources.
The massive purges by Stalin in the late 1930s decimated the upper ranks and officer corps of the Soviet military. The Soviet military, which had made great strides in the 1930s, seriously regressed. When Germany and Japan invaded in 1941, the Soviet Army was still in the process of rebuilding, including the retraining of a new officer corps.
After the fall of France and the Netherlands to Nazi Germany, Japan was eager to move into French and Dutch colonies in Indonesia and Vietnam to secure an oil supply and other raw materials. After Japan secured some positions in Indonesia, America declared a full oil embargo. Many Japanese officers were in favor of attacking the United States. War games demonstrated it was unlikely for Japan to win a war with the United States . The Japanese high command eventually decided to only seize the colonies of France and Holland ( Indochina and Indonesia ) , reasoning that most America would not go to war to protect another country's colonies, and even less likely to go to war to support Communist Soviet Union. The Soviet Union had recently been expelled from the League of Nations for invading Finland, making it more of an international pariah than it had been before and reviving the 'Red Scare.' Even after the occupation of the former colonies, most Americans remained isolationists. The Philippines were not attacked as to not give the Americans a causes belli to declare war.
The Japanese were successful in getting many of the Siberian indigenous peoples, who suffered under Soviet rule, to join them with promises of autonomous rule and an' Asia for the Asians
German and Japan launched their joint attack in June of 1941. The Japanese recruited White Russians and other minorities in Siberia join their attack on the Soviet Union . Effective resistance against the Axis armies ended by late 1942 America, reluctantly joined the British in war against Germany, but it was unpopular. America and the U.K. could not mobilize fast enough to prevent the Soviet collapse.
The armies of Germany and Japan briefly met in Tomsk.
It proved impossible to occupy all of the Soviet Union. Germany occupied European Russia and the Ukraine, Japan occupied the maritime provinces. The Soviet Union was broken up into Axis puppet states. The center of the Soviet Union was not effectively conquered, but it was cut of from most of the world. There were some minor clashes between an American naval force sent to reinforce the Philippines and the Japanese Imperial navy, but no major naval actions. With the collapse of the Soviet Union, Germany was able to move massive manpower to western Europe, and a planned liberation was deemed to be too risky.

By the late 1940s, there was peace agreement reached between England, America ,Germany and Japan. Both sides entered a Cold War in the 50s, with America developing an atomic bomb in 1949, and a German bomb by 1951 and Japan in 1953. The early co-operation between German and Japan dissolved by the mid-1950s and there were three main blocks, the North American, British , Australian and New Zealand Alliance, the Germanic Reich of continental Europe and Italy, the Imperial Japanese Co-Prosperity Sphere in Asia. The revaltions of the massive executions of Jews and Slavs in the early 50s greatly heightened tensions . Large numbers of Russians with what were considered Aryan characteristics were brought to Germany to be raised as Germans .A space race devloped in the late 50s and early 60s. All three sides spents massive sums on arms and supporting client states .
This compelling new alternate history reconstructs the moments during World War II which could conceivably have altered the entire course of the Second World War and led to a German victory.
